For almost 50 years, the Irmscher group of companies has been offering individual solutions for vehicles of all types for almost every application. Almost 95 years ago, the first mountain race on the Jochpass was held and it already looks back on a long tradition.
Irmscher was at the Jochpass with three vehicles on the second weekend of October at the Oberjochpass Memorial. Including the Irmscher Chevrolet Camaro V8, the Irmscher Opel Commodore C Kombi also with a V8 engine and in the classification started the Irmscher Opel Commodore B GS / E.
At the pilgrimage there was for all power-fans Irmscher with 1000 HP at the start. With a record starting field of over 160 vehicles from Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as special runs of Bentley from England the spectators enjoyed a spectacular variety.
This year it was a happy mix of first.class motorsport on the mountain and a full throttle folk festival. Thousands of spectators with motorsports enthusiasts got their money's worth on the legendary mountain race track. The atmosphere along the asphalt was unique, like the 6.8 kilometers of track in the foothills themselves.
On the track it was necessary to overcome 107 curves on 360 vertical meters - after a long straight at the start followed by a never-ending curve spectacle - to the delight of the audience.
For the first time the party mood was ensured by the charity race for the VIP mountain trophy. This lured Nino de Angelo, Konstantin Waigel, Irene Epple, Theo Waigel, Markus Winkelhock, Kris Nissen, Luca Stolz amd Philip Ellis to the Ostrachtal.
They followed the call of the „Schnitzel-Alm-Boss” Thomas Angerer, who had the idea for a kart race of which the benefit will be given to the Allgäu relief club Mir Fir Uib.
There will be another year to prepare for the next Jochpass Memorial - it will take place from 04.-07.10.2018.
